We arrived at Valparaiso on December 8th: the
day of the virgin Marie. As a result everything is closed and the city empty.
We end up in a hostel near the central plaza. The place is creepy but we don’t
have more energy to find something else. During the evening Sebastian accepted
to host us on couchsurfing! We crashed at his place the next day (without
noticing…). Fortunately he was home. We shared his room for 4 nights and MAC
and I shared a bed.
The house was decorated with drawings,
paintings, crafts made by art students. The place is rented by 7 guys (3 from
Chile, a French guy, 1 Swedish and 2 Americans)
The two American guys, Paul and Sunny, are
renting for a few days: they are looking to buy a van to go on a road trip in
Chile (they have 150 kg of luggage…)
Valparaiso is a real labyrinth covered in
graffs, full of life and party. It’s the kingdom of the street art!
Those 3 days in Valparaiso were crazy: hikes on
the shore, jazz concert on the port, street artists… the Christmas parade
with the huge Coca cola trucks! We enjoyed the sea and the beach, admiring the
sea lions, the pelicans fishing. Our hosts took us to great nightclubs so we
danced until sunset!
